Smart Classroom

Smart Classroom

Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) never ceases in generating advanced innovations to support the teaching and learning process. Serving as one of the best technology institutes in Indonesia, the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) designed Smart Classrooms and Smart Laboratories that are equipped with many technological advantages to improve teaching and learning facilities during the pandemic. In a digital era like today, there is a high urgency to enhance learning activities for students despite not being able to meet directly with their lecturers.

Some of the advantages acquired by Smart Classroom are as follows.

  • Multimedia that is connected in parallel so that students can access online and offline
  • Tables and chairs that can be arranged flexibly and easily according to the user’s comfort
  • A camera that can detect lecturers’ movements in order to be able to record class activities. and provide more real learning
  • Integrated electric system to a smart card, which supports electricity savings of up to 16.67 percent

Some of the advantages acquired by Smart Laboratory are as follows.

  • Experimental equipment and modules that can be run online
  • Live broadcast with a camera that provides a more real experiment experience
  • Flexible access for practitioners to do experiment after approval
  • Experimental parameters obtained are more accurate and precise
  • Integrated electric system to a smart card, which supports electricity savings of up to 16.67 percent

Our Focus

Encourage the Smart Eco Campus Initiative

Smart Classroom and Smart Laboratory are tangible forms of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember’s initiatives as a Smart Eco Campus. ITS Smart Eco Campus has a goal to create sustainable development in the campus environment by utilizing technology and science. Thus, the Smart Classroom and Smart Laboratory are built with an integrated electric system that contributes to reducing electricity use on campus.

Mission to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This innovation also answers the urgency of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ITS continues to play an active role in developing various concepts and methodologies that are implemented so that SDGs in Indonesia can quickly be realized. Especially in the current pandemic era, education is one of the areas with the greatest impact. Educational institutions are pushed to continue ensuring inclusive and equal education for all, in accordance with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Quality Education. Hence, the Smart Classrooms and Smart Laboratories were initiated to encourage the quality of education at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), both online and offline.

Support the “Merdeka Pelajar” Program

The utilization of the Smart Classroom and Smart Laboratory is a manifestation of the full support of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) for the “Merdeka Pelajar” program by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud). The concept of “Merdeka Pelajar” emphasizes the independence needed by students in the current era, where instead of being pushed to strictly follow the existing curriculum, they can choose the most suitable and comfortable learning method. Aligned with this, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) built the Smart Classroom with flexible tables and chairs so that it can be adjusted to fit the students’ needs and comfort, while the Smart Laboratory provides flexible access for students to be able to conduct experiments at any time with approval.
