What Is Re-register MFA

Re-register MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is the process of removing the registered MFA authentication methods from a user’s account, allowing the user to register new MFA authentication methods.

Situations That Require MFA Re-registration

  • The device used for the authenticator app is lost or damaged.
  • The device has been replaced, but the user did not transfer or back up their MFA to the new device.
  • The authenticator app has been deleted or reset.
  • The user has lost access to all registered authentication methods (e.g., Microsoft Authenticator, phone number, recovery email, etc.).

How Long Does the Re-registration Process Take?

The MFA re-registration process is completed in accordance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA), with a maximum processing time of two (2) business days.

Will My Data Be Lost?

Re-registering MFA will not cause any of your data to be lost. This process only updates the authentication methods used to sign in to the myITS Portal.

What If My Previous Device Is No Longer Accessible?

If you no longer have access to your previous device, please submit an MFA re-registration request through the Service Desk.

What Should I Do After MFA Re-registration Is Complete?

Once the MFA re-registration process is complete, please set up MFA again.

Is There a Way to Avoid MFA Re-registration?

Yes. To avoid MFA re-registration, you can add another authentication method on a different device through Account Settings → Multi-Factor Authentication in the myITS Portal. Make sure to do this while you still have access to the device currently used for MFA.
