ITS Campus – Vocational News, – Several Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) engaged in manufacturing in their production process still use conventional methods, so they are unable to meet market demand. To increase production effectiveness and efficiency, the Community Service Team (Abmas) from the Industrial Mechanical Engineering Department FV ITS innovated the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Milling tool.

Mr. Mashuri S.Si MT, a member of the Abmas team, stated that UD ACC manufacturing SMEs located in northern Surabaya with a focus on fabrication and manufacturing of machine components that the marketing of machines produced by UD ACC have reached the national market both in Java and abroad. Java.

However, the problem faced by UD ACC is production capacity that is not in line with market demand. This is because UD ACC in its production process uses manual methods even though it has around fifty employees. “This less than optimal production process has resulted in UD ACC often rejecting orders from prospective buyers,” added Mashuri S.Si MT.

Based on these problems Mashuri and the team designed a machine that is able to work automatically and with precision to improve the production process without having to increase the workforce, namely using a CNC Milling machine. This Abmas activity began with direct observation with partners to identify real problems at UD ACC. Furthermore, tool design and manufacturing processes are carried out to obtain a reliable CNC Milling machine.

The main capability of the CNC Milling machine is to read G-Code-based CNC programs that have been made by programmers through CNC programming software. Furthermore, the G-Code will be sent and executed by the processor to drive the device so as to produce products according to the program.

With these main capabilities are expected to stabilize the quality of the products produced. The use of CNC Milling will increase production speed and reduce the risk of human error. In order for the CNC Milling machine to operate properly and properly and last a long time, training and assistance are carried out on how to operate and maintain the machine.
