On Monday, August 7, 2023, the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) officially held the inauguration of new students for the 2023/2024 academic year. The ceremony was led by ITS Chancellor, Ir. Mochammad Ashari M.Eng., attended by all ITS leadership, took place offline at ITS Sukolilo Stadium. A total of 1,184 new students from the Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (Electics) also became part of this inauguration event.
Starting at 07.00 WIB, 6,188 new students enthusiastically gathered at the stadium, feeling proud and excited to welcome their newly acquired student title. After passing through a series of rigorous selections to enter State Universities, these undergraduate and D4 undergraduate students have proven their dedication and hard work. This year, the new student inauguration event also has a special feel because the Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (Electics) also welcomes new families to three new study programs: Digital Innovation, Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence Engineering.
This year, Electics accepted a total of 103 new students to take part in three newly opened study programs, namely Digital Innovation, Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence Engineering. This first year, new student admissions are carried out through the Partnership, Independent, and Achievement Selection (SKM) pathways. By opening up opportunities through this pathway, it is hoped that new study programs that carry out the field of applied sciences can produce graduates who are superior and have adaptive abilities in dealing with the times.

Electics students who were officially confirmed were picked up by representatives of the Student Executive Board (SEB) of each department from the stadium. When they arrived at the location, they were warmly welcomed by the head of the SEB, and received greetings and congratulations. The Head of SEB, Adzanny Tealent Risabury, also gave a brief description of the faculty and provided information regarding the planned orientation activities for the faculty level in the future.
After that, the new students were divided into smaller groups according to their respective departments. They were then greeted by representatives from their departmental association, where they received a rousing welcome and congratulations. This stage reflects the symbolic process of handing over new students from the institute level to the department level. This contains great meaning regarding the mandate to form excellent students who are passionate about pursuing knowledge.
