GEULIS or Guest Lecturer Series Information System is a guest lecture program held by the Information Systems Department. In addition to getting lecture material in class together with the lecturers, students are allowed to gain knowledge from expert speakers who have insight and direct experience in related fields. Held for the first time in 2021, GEULIS has brought in professionals from professors, lecturers, and experts who have experience and are involved in the world of technology and information systems. Several of the speakers came from foreign universities that have a myriad of works and research in the field of information systems.

At GEULIS this time, the topic of Open Source ERP Implementation: Opportunities and Challenges is raised. The speaker is a Project & Alliance Manager at PT Metrocom Jaddi Technology, Fatchy Nurhidayati. In the Information Systems Department curriculum, students are familiar with this material from the Enterprise Systems and Software Implementation courses. Students are allowed to explore material that has been presented by presenters who are experienced in implementing Enterprise Systems in companies.

“Is it possible to integrate only a few departments in the company into an ERP system?”

“Is Odoo really used in companies?”

The above is an example of a question asked in a guest lecture session. As a resource person who has been involved in ERP system implementation, Ms. Atchy – her nickname, answered the questions asked while adding examples of case studies she had encountered. He said, integrating ERP for only a few departments can be carried out as a trial stage and the company’s adaptation to the system can reduce the impact of risks to the company because the scale used is small. Then answer the interesting question about whether it is true that one of the ERP systems currently being studied by students, namely Odoo, is being used by companies. He explained that with the many choices of existing ERP systems, companies need to review which application is right to use based on the level of needs and existing limitations. Of course, there are indeed companies that choose Odoo as their ERP system.
