Activities at the Vocational Faculty that can help apply their knowledge and abilities are community service. One of them is the Real Work Lecture which can be done by all students.
The Real Work Lecture Program (KKN) has become part of educational activities as well as community service, but its implementation has been stopped since 1989. Given the importance of this activity to become a life learning laboratory in the midst of society as well as one of ITS hands in helping solve problems that arise faced by the community, then the implementation of KKN at ITS was revived. As an initial stage, KKN started from the villages in the city of Surabaya which focused on 4 themes:
This activity is in the form of training activities to provide insight into the social community in ITS environment and outside of ITS. This activity is expected to increase insight into the social activities of the community both for ITS and surrounding residents.
This activity is usually done to provide health checks for the elderly and toddlers in vocational villages. Where in its implementation is expected to be able to realize a healthy society.
This activity is an activity intended to find solutions to environmental problems, where this activity is usually in the form of analysis of environmental conditions that will later find solutions that occur in the environment by aligning the existing knowledge groups in the Vocational Faculty. In this activity for now is carried out in vocational villages.
This activity is usually filled with teaching for children in vocational villages held at Kejawan People’s School or Rumah Swadesi (Balai RT / RW Keputih Timur Gang Baru). For children who are taught alone is usually dominated by elementary school children.
This activity is usually done in the form of providing social assistance or fundraising for those affected by disasters or social assistance for people affected.
