Lecturer in the ITS Information Systems department, Ir Andre Parvian Aristio, S Kom., M.Sc received an award on May 31, 2023 by the Mayor of Surabaya as the initiator and organizer of the 2022 regional innovation competition.

Welcoming the 729th Anniversary of the City of Surabaya, the Surabaya City Government created a forum to channel the creativity of its citizens through a competition called INOVBOYO or Suroboyo Innovation which lasted for approximately 3 (three) months. The Surabaya City Government partnered with ITS as a collaborative partner and asked Andre Parvian and his team to participate in conceptualizing activities, assessment criteria, outreach, and judging for INOVBOYO 2022. A total of 729 participants from various backgrounds have actively contributed their ideas and innovations to INOVBOYO 2022. One thing what’s interesting is that the number of participants in INOVBOYO 2022 is the same age as the city of Surabaya, which was having a birthday at that time.

The young lecturer proposed the idea that all levels of society in the city of Surabaya would contribute their innovations in aspects of service and development of Indonesia. This has proven successful in bringing Surabaya to break the MURI record for an innovation competition with the most participants in Indonesia through the INOVBOYO 2022 competition. And in the future it is hoped that innovations of this kind will continue to be born.

The success that was brought in the first year of launch made the Surabaya City Government make INOVBOYO an annual event and again partnered with ITS and Mr. Andre Parvian as the drafters of the INOVBOYO competition the following year.

“Priority is a must and the key to success” he said when asked about the secret of success and time division so that he could become a pioneer in the race that led Surabaya to a MURI record besides working as an ITS Information Systems Lecturer in an interview last Tuesday.

Mr. Andre Parvian also gave his message and hope to the people of Surabaya to actively participate in this kind of innovation competition because it can have an extraordinary impact on the development of Surabaya and Indonesia.
