The ITS Biomedical Engineering Study Program was formed with a vision and mission to produce the next generation that has strong analytical and synthesis capabilities in the fields of Biomedical Instrumentation, Biomedical, Biomechanical, Biomedical, Biomaterial, and others.
With these capabilities, it is expected that each graduate will be able to meet the challenges of the world of work in the fields of medical equipment design, signal processing and medical imagery, clinical engineering, medical rehabilitation, and assistive technology for individuals with special needs.
The research activities in this study program focus on the mechanisms of computation, communication and control systems in biological systems, and their applications in the fields of biology, electronics and mechanics.
Biomedical engineering can be defined as a multidisciplinary field as a harmonious combination of several engineering fields applied in the fields of medicine and health care. Biomedical engineering is basically an integration of the fields of Engineering and the Field of Medicine and Health Care. As a multidisciplinary field, synergies from various scientific fields have a role in the design, development and use of materials, and medical equipment. In addition, it also plays a role in producing methods such as measurement and detection techniques, signal processing techniques and biomedical imagery, the use of artificial intelligence for diagnosis, and others. The role continues to grow in terms of quantity and quality, and at the research level as well as at the level of clinical application in the field. The related fields that support the Biomedical Engineering field are illustrated in the figure below.
