The Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK) held an Alumni Gathering and Halal Bi Halal with the theme: “Synergy in Togetherness of FTK to Inspire and Give Back.” The event featured Ust. Mamafik as the keynote speaker and was attended by the entire FTK community, including retired faculty members, administrative staff, and alumni from various graduating classes.
The event took place on Saturday, April 12, 2024, at the Main Building of the Department of Naval Architecture, FTK–ITS. The Department of Naval Architecture, FTK, has also been appointed as the organizer of the Halal Bi Halal for the year 2025.
The event commenced at 10:00 AM (WIB) and was officially opened by Dr. Ing. Ir. Setyo Nugroho, Dean of the Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK). This spiritual enrichment gathering was held offline and included participants’ families, allowing for renewed connection and togetherness among lecturers, alumni, and administrative staff along with their families within the FTK community.
On this occasion, Dr. Setyo also introduced the newly appointed leadership for the 2025–2029 term at FTK, including the Dean, Vice Deans, Heads of Departments, and Department Secretaries, to all attendees. This event aimed to strengthen bonds within the FTK family and instill values of kindness both internally and in external relations.
During his speech, the Dean also invited all present to take a moment of silence and prayer in honor of the late Mr. Christino Boyke Surya Permana, S.T., M.T., Ph.D, Head of the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering, who had recently passed away. May he be granted peace and a noble place by His side.
Following this, Dr. Setyo Nugroho expressed his sincere gratitude to all parties involved, especially the Department of Naval Architecture, which served as the organizing committee, for ensuring the event ran smoothly. He also thanked the invited guests, retired senior lecturers who made the time to attend, FTK alumni from various batches, and finally extended heartfelt appreciation to Ust. K.H. Ahmad Muwafiq, the keynote speaker of the event.
After that, verses from the Holy Qur’an were beautifully recited by male and female students from the 2020 cohort of the Department of Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding Engineering.
In his sermon, Ust. K.H. Ahmad Muwafiq emphasized the importance of continuously strengthening our spiritual values in our daily work and interpersonal relationships, in order to create a balanced life between habluminallah (relationship with Allah) and habluminannas (relationship with fellow human beings).
For habluminallah, or the relationship between humans and Allah, each of us is encouraged to increase our worship through regular prayers (shalat), reciting blessings upon the Prophet (shalawat), and performing other acts of devotion. Meanwhile, for habluminannas, or human-to-human relationships, it is equally important to maintain harmony by doing good deeds, helping one another, respecting and honoring others.
This event itself serves as a form of silaturahmi (strengthening of bonds) among the FTK family, in alignment with the Qur’anic principle of habluminannas, as reflected in Surah An-Nisa (4):36, which reads:
“Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him. And be kind to parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, the near neighbor, the distant neighbor, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are arrogant and boastful.”(Qur’an, Surah An-Nisa [4]:36)
In his closing remarks, Ust. K.H. Ahmad Muwafiq expressed his hope that this event would continue to strengthen the bond (silaturahmi) among the FTK family. He emphasized that enhanced unity and togetherness within the FTK environment would help create a more comfortable and harmonious working atmosphere across all departments, ultimately contributing to increased work productivity at FTK and ITS.
