Seeing the importance of acoustics room, the lecturer of Engineering Physics, Dr. Dhany Arifanto, S.T, M. Eng. designs and creates Dodekahedron (12 sides) speaker. This speaker is a supporting tool of acoustics research in evaluating the room acoustics responses. An acoustically good room is a room that able to reflect soundwaves in equal loudness in every direction. The previous model of speakers are not able to produce the wavefrom.
with the help of ITS Innovation directorate, Dr. Dhany and his team were able to produce the product with collaborations from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) as tester and Universitas Negeri Sebelas Maret (UNS) as material provider. His team can produce the speaker with lower cost than the internationally tested device, without reducing the quality. “This device is ISO tested.” he said. the speaker is 55 cm in diameter and 30 kg in weight.
Dr Dhany added that the speker of his production cost 100 million IDR, while the overseas product is almost 1,2 billion IDR. “So far, there are three units sold.” ha finally said.
