Toward a higher education institution at the master level that can act as a reputable center of excellence in higher education and research in the field of Engineering Physics, at the national, regional and international levels, and is able to produce graduates who are able to compete at the global level.
Produce a high-quality graduates in Engineering Physics which has:
Department of Engineering Physics, Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering has opened a master program since 2008 based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education (Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi (DIKTI)) No. 2202 / D / T / 2008 dated July 15, 2008. The rapid development in science and technology has changed the paradigm of study approach in the scientific field, into an integrated approach that is inter and multi-disciplinary approaches. Department of Engineering Physics’s discipline is an education that combines engineering concepts with a strong mastery of Physics and Mathematics to produce creative and innovative applications. Students are equipped with the ability of research and development, design and analysis for various physical systems in the industry. This program is an advanced education for graduates of Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, and other majors who have sufficient physics and mathematics content in their studies.
This Master’s Degree program is designed to prepare students with strong provisions from the three disciplines (physics, mathematics, and engineering) with the option of advanced learning in the field of Engineering Physics. Students are also equipped with skills in problem solving and conducting their research. Graduates from this master’s degree program are entitled to a Magister Teknik (M.T). Graduates of this program are emphasized to have stronger analytical abilities, be creative in finding new innovations in order to solve the problems faced, as well as being skilled in formulating appropriate engineering solutions. It is hoped that personnel with such skill qualifications will be able to play a role in future hihh-quality research activities in the related science and technology fields. This goal can only be achieved by designing a curriculum that can provide in-depth and comprehensive knowledge in the areas of interest chosen during the educational process.
The Master’s Degree Program in Engineering Physics – ITS, is carried out within 4 semesters (2 years), with a maximum study period limit of 4 years. According to the curriculum, the minimum credits of 36, including a thesis . In the first two semesters, compulsary courses are given to form the main competency of Engineering Physics expertise, along with a thesis proposal seminar to be carried out. In the second two semesters, students are given a choice of elective courses that can be chosen flexibly, according to the their chosen expertise and in line with the thesis topic they are going to pursue.
The academic calendar in first semester starts in early September, while in second semester starts in early February and ends in June. The academic activities include: lectures, assignments and independent studies, laboratory activities, discussions, and seminars.
To graduate from the Master’s Degree Program, students must meet the following quality standards:
