Master Degree

About Us

The Master’s Program of the Mechanical Engineering Department (MoME) was established in 1993 as part of the Mechanical Engineering Department. The Mechanical Engineering Department itself has been established since 1957, coinciding with the establishment of the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember. Over the years, our program has proudly graduated over 600 master’s students who have gone on to excel in various institutions, spanning both academia and industry. Since its establishment, this program has been designed to produce graduates capable of meeting research needs, both in the realm of science and technology in the academic world and research institutions, as well as in research-based product development in the industry.

The courses and thesis writing in the MoME are conducted by 30 Doctors and 10 Professors with diverse expertise in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Master’s students’ research is conducted in 7 comfortable laboratories equipped with adequate equipment. The curriculum is periodically updated to adapt to the dynamic developments in science and research in the industry. Specializations for research in the MoME are highly varied and can be affiliated with preferred laboratories. A newly opened specialization field is Rekayasa Energi Terbarukan dan Berkelanjutan (Renewable & Sustainable Energy Engineering), aimed at anticipating the need for professionals in the field of renewable energy, related to the global program Net Zero Emission.

MoME has been consistently receiving Excellent recognition by the National Accreditation Agency (BAN PT) since its initial accreditation. Currently, MoME is also in the process of preparations for international accreditation through the ASIIN accreditation agency.

MoME has established collaborations with various institutions, including PT. PLN, PT. Pembangkitan Jawa Bali, and PT. Indonesia Power, in developing human resources to produce highly skilled professionals with a Master’s degree. To accommodate the growing interest in mechanical engineering among industry professionals and to adapt to the development of digital learning methods, several programs have been developed. These programs include Master’s degree through research and Master’s degree with Distance Learning programs (PJJ), alongside the regular Master’s program conducted through in-class lectures and thesis writing.

It has formed productive partnerships with various companies in the energy, transport, and manufacturing sectors, with a particular focus on medical devices, electric vehicles, and materials handling equipment.
