Graduate Profiles of Mechanical Engineering Department

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DoME) study program has determined the graduates by the time of graduation must demonstrate the following:

  • An ability to analyze and design mechanical systems (mechanics, energy,
materials and manufacturing) and contribute to solving complex engineering problems in the field of, but not limited to, energy and power system (conventional and renewable energy) and automotive industries.
  • An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
  • An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
  • An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.

The graduate profile of DoME has been set to be aligned with the Indonesian qualification framework (KKNI) based on President Regulation number 8 year 2012, the National Standard of Higher Education based on the Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation number 49 year 2014, the ITS vision and mission, and the graduate competency defined by Badan Kerja Sama Teknik Mesin (BKSTM), an organization of institutions which provides Mechanical Engineering education in Indonesia.

The Bachelor Department of Mechanical Engineering education program is scheduled in 8 (eight) semesters with a study load in a semester credit unit (credits) of at least 144 credits consisting of two stages, namely:

  • Preparation Phase
    • At this stage, all undergraduate students Department of Mechanical Engineering is required to take as many as 36 credits, scheduled for 2 (two) semesters.
  • Undergraduate Phase
    • At this stage, all undergraduate students Department of Mechanical Engineering is required to take 108 courses scheduled for 6 (six) semesters including 21 credit groups of elective courses, practical work and final assignments of the chosen field of expertise.
