July 16, 2025 – The Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (DTMM), Faculty of Engineering, once again held an academic event under the Guest Lecture Series aimed at enhancing the research and publication skills of the academic community. This session featured the lecture “Effective Strategies for Preparing High-Quality Scientific Publications”, with Prof. Syarif Junaidi as the main speaker.
The event took place on Monday, July 14, 2025, in Room MT 204 at DTMM, attended by graduate students, faculty, and young researchers eager to improve their ability to write and publish in reputable international journals.
During his presentation, Prof. Syarif Junaidi outlined practical strategies for producing high-quality scientific publications. He emphasized the importance of careful research planning, clear manuscript structure, and consistency in presenting data and research findings.
“Writing a scientific publication is not merely arranging words, but conveying a scientific message in a systematic, honest, and easily understandable manner. The quality of a publication depends on the accuracy of data and clarity of communication,” Prof. Syarif stated.
He also covered key stages, from selecting a research topic and crafting an engaging abstract to choosing the appropriate journal. Additionally, Prof. Syarif shared tips on navigating the peer review process and maintaining academic ethics in scientific publishing.
The session was interactive, with participants asking questions about experiences publishing in international journals and the challenges of preserving scientific integrity amid emerging AI-assisted writing tools.
Through this lecture, participants were expected to develop more professional scientific writing skills and be motivated to actively contribute to knowledge advancement through high-quality, ethical publications.
