The atmosphere at the canteen garden area of the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (DTMM), Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering (FTIRS), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) took on a different vibe on Friday (February 6, 2026). As part of the Friday Series (Jumat Berseri) program, DTMM ITS hosted a culinary event titled Clash of Flavors: FTI-RS vs SEKITS, bringing together two legendary ITS chef teams in a friendly cooking competition.
Carrying the theme Chinese Food and Seafood Dishes, the competition featured an exciting culinary duel between the FTI-RS ITS Team and the SEKITS-ITS Team. Both teams showcased their best creativity, from ingredient processing and cooking techniques to visually appealing food presentation.
The competition was evaluated by a Special Jury Panel consisting of Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Ahmad Rusdiansyah, M.Eng., CSCP, CLTD, IPU (Vice Rector I of UNUSA), Prof. Dr. Syafsir Akhlus, M.Sc. (Chair of the ITS Academic Senate for the 2020–2025 period), and Cak Budiono Sukses (ITS alumnus and culinary content creator). The presence of these judges added prestige to the event and ensured a professional and objective assessment.
Based on the jury’s decision, the Best Taste Award was presented to the FTI-RS ITS Team, which excelled in flavor balance and cooking techniques. Meanwhile, the SEKITS-ITS Team dominated other categories by winning three awards simultaneously, namely Best Presentation, Most Compact Supporter, and Most Enthusiastic Supporter, demonstrating excellence not only in the kitchen but also in team spirit and audience engagement.
Beyond being a culinary competition, the event served as a platform to strengthen camaraderie, collaboration, and togetherness among the ITS academic community. In line with the spirit of Clash of Flavors, the event conveyed a clear message: flavors may compete, but togetherness remains the ultimate winner.
