ITS News — The Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (DTMM), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), welcomed a follow-up collaboration visit from PT Komatsu Remanufacturing Asia on Wednesday (January 28, 2026). The visit marked a strategic step in strengthening synergy between academia and industry, particularly in the development of applied research and human resource competencies.
The visit focused on three main agendas, namely a tour of DTMM ITS laboratory facilities, discussions on applied research opportunities, and deliberations on the development of expert competencies, learning guides, and assessment frameworks aligned with industry needs.
The delegation from PT Komatsu Remanufacturing Asia was led by Arwanto, Deputy General Manager of Engineering & TPM, accompanied by Bayu Wicaksono, Section Head of Human Capital & Asset; Ramadhani Hartiningtrias, Section Head of Learning, Innovation & Development; and Meliati Pasca Muna, Engineer.
Representing DTMM ITS were Sutarsis, Head of the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering; Hariyati Purwaningsih, Secretary of the Department; and *Prof. Agung Purniawan. During the visit, DTMM ITS leadership and academics presented the department’s laboratory capabilities, research development directions, and potential areas of collaboration with PT Komatsu Remanufacturing Asia.
Through this follow-up visit, both parties expressed their commitment to establishing more concrete and sustainable collaboration, including applied research projects, industry-based curriculum development, and the enhancement of student and expert competencies. This collaboration aligns with ITS’s commitment to supporting industrial needs while fostering innovation and the development of practical, impactful technologies.
