12 October 2025 – Room MT 204 was once again filled with students and researchers on 29 September 2025 for a Guest Lecture Series featuring DSc. Eng. Wojciech J. Nowak, an Associate Professor widely recognized in the field of materials and corrosion. Organized under the supervision of Ms. Azzah, the lecture focused on a crucial topic in materials engineering: the fundamentals of High-Temperature Corrosion (HTC).

From the outset, the session was designed to explore how and why materials undergo corrosion in high-temperature environments—a phenomenon that quietly causes significant losses across many industrial sectors. Understanding HTC mechanisms is essential for improving the durability of components operating under extreme conditions, such as in power plants, the chemical industry, and manufacturing systems.

The event took place over a full day. It began with an introduction to the definitions and initial mechanisms of high-temperature corrosion. Prof. Nowak then guided participants into more technical discussions, including types of oxidation, environmental factors, and material properties that influence corrosion resistance. His explanations flowed systematically, making the complex microscopic processes easy for participants to follow.

Following the theoretical session, an interactive discussion addressed mitigation strategies for real-world applications. Organizers highlighted that understanding High-Temperature Corrosion (HTC) is vital for preventing material failure starting from the design stage.

The event concluded by emphasizing that knowledge of corrosion is a genuine industrial necessity, effectively bridging academic theory with modern engineering challenges.
