ITS Campus, SEATRANS News – In supporting learning activities at the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering, field trips are held by the areas of interest in Seatrans. The visit was carried out on Wednesday, 16 November 2022 by visiting 2 companies namely, Maspion Industrial Estate and Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE), in Gresik Regency. The Maspion Industrial Estate has become a port for a port business entity that was established in 1995 and operates a terminal for its interests since 1998, and in 2020 Maspion will begin to become a public port. Meanwhile, Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE) is one of the integrated areas in Indonesia with an area of 3,000 hectares including industrial areas, multifunctional public ports, and residential areas.
The purpose of this field lecture visit is to increase student insight regarding implementation regarding the realm of work in the professional field and support learning in the Marine Transportation Planning Course. The participants in this field study were joined by students taking the Marine Transportation Planning course from the 2019 and 2018 batches. The participants seemed enthusiastic and active in asking the company, and the company answered in a very detailed and clear manner.
The agenda consisted of an introduction and tour to see the operational and technical aspects of each company, followed by a question and answer session by the participants, and the presentation of souvenirs at the closing of the visit. Hopefully, this visit can help students in carrying out the Big Marine Transportation Planning Task and also maintain good relations between the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering and PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera, and PT Maspion Energy Mitratama.
