Certificate of BAN-PT Accreditation For Department of Marine Transportation Engineering
ITS Campus, Seatrans News — the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering (DTTL) of the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) succeeded in increasing its value and quality by achieving accreditation with excellent results (A) from Board of National Accreditation for Higher Education (BAN-PT) on Tuesday 23rd June 2020. Previously, BAN-PT accreditation results with ratings A, B, and C. However, since 2019 BAN-PT uses accreditation with excellent results, very good, and good. This accreditation status is valid until 1 November 2024.
The excellent accreditation of BAN-PT is obtained after fulfilling the regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 5 of 2020 regarding accreditation by BAN-PT. It does not escape the achievements that have been achieved by DTTL ITS have succeeded in achieving general accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering (IABEE) or also known as the Independent accreditation board of Indonesian technical education in the discipline of Ocean and Similarly-named Engineering Program 2019 13 Last February which also used as one of the excellent accreditation of BAN-PT.
IABEE is an accreditation board that has been recognized by the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (KEMENRISTEKDIKTI) which is responsible for the accreditation of courses that give academic bachelor degrees in engineering and computing. Such international accreditation boards refer to the Washington Accord as one of the standard international accreditation of engineering fields. IABEE Accreditation emphasizes the implementation of learning achievement based education (outcomes-based education).
By obtaining such superior accreditation proves that the quality of the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering ITS has been nationally acquired and even in international eyes although still a relatively young department that exists at ITS. Despite obtaining the superior accreditation of BAN-PT, it does not make DTTL ITS complacency. In the future, the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering will continue to improve the quality of departments in other international areas by the professional lecturer, which will be added to the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering ITS.
