April 18, 2025 – The Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (DTMM), Faculty of Engineering, once again presented an inspiring session as part of its Research Sharing series. This time, the main speaker, Prof. Anongnat Somwangthanaroj, Ph.D., shared experiences and insights in a session titled “From Polymer Degree to Career Pursuit: Leveraging Knowledge for Success.” The event took place on April 15, 2025, in Room MT 344 at DTMM, attended by students and faculty members interested in exploring career prospects in materials and polymers.

In his presentation, Prof. Anongnat emphasized the importance of understanding career directions and opportunities for polymer graduates, both in academia and industry. He highlighted that the foundational knowledge gained during studies can serve as a strong base for growth in various fields, such as research, new material development, advanced plastics manufacturing, sustainable energy, and medical technologies.

“Studying polymers is not just about understanding materials, but also about how that knowledge can be applied to create real solutions for society,” Prof. Anongnat stated.

He also shared his personal career journey, from his student years to becoming a prominent professor and researcher. According to him, the key to success in the polymer field is the willingness to continuously learn and adapt to technological developments.

The session was lively and interactive, with many participants asking questions about career strategies in materials research and tips for facing challenges in the global workforce. Through this session, students gained a clearer understanding of how polymer science can open up wide and promising career opportunities.

The Research Sharing program is one of DTMM’s initiatives to foster academic enthusiasm and motivate students to continuously develop themselves, not only as scientists but also as professionals ready to contribute to the international research and industrial sectors.
