October 24, 2025 – In an effort to strengthen student understanding of the importance of academic honesty, a Guest Lecture titled “Academic Integrity & Research Ethics” was held featuring Dr. Hussin Mamat as the main speaker. The event took place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM WIB, and was attended by lecturers and students from various study programs.
In his presentation, Dr. Hussin Mamat stressed that academic integrity is the fundamental foundation of the research world. He explained that every researcher must be conscious of maintaining the authenticity of their scientific work, including in citing sources, providing proper attribution, and respecting the work of others.
“As a researcher, we need to know where the source of a study comes from. When we create something, that work must have its own integrity,” stated Dr. Hussin during the material delivery session.
Research ethics, he continued, not only concerns honesty in data collection and analysis but also encompasses a moral responsibility toward society and the academic world. By upholding ethics at every stage of research, researchers can contribute to the advancement of science that is sustainable and trustworthy.
The event also included an interactive discussion session, where participants were given the opportunity to directly ask the speaker about the challenges of maintaining integrity in research within the digital age, which is saturated with easy access to information.
Through this guest lecture, it is hoped that students and the academic community will further understand the importance of honesty, responsibility, and ethical values in every scientific activity. This is because integrity not only reflects the quality of a researcher but also determines the credibility of the academic institution they represent.
