ITS Geophysical Engineering once again welcomed international guests to share about the activities of the Geophysics laboratory, as part of the Commtech Highlight series of events. “Innovation in Engineering” was the topic of this international program organized by the ITS Directorate of Global Engagement.
The welcoming ceremony for these 22 foreign students was held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Divided into two sessions, Dr. Eng. Maryadi, S.SI., M.Sc., one of the ITS Geophysical Engineering lecturers, gave a presentation to the participants about a general introduction to geophysics, in the first session.
In the second session, an assistant from the ITS Geophysical Engineering laboratory gave a demonstration of the use of geophysical equipment, including GPR, seismic, geoelectric, and rock microscopes. More than just introducing the equipment, the assistant also provided participants with the opportunity to gain experience operating the equipment.
Not only outdoor activities, international students were also invited to view various rock collections used as geology learning materials in the exhibition hall. Participants were enthusiastic about viewing the unique rocks, while laboratory assistants provided explanations.
With this international event, we hope that ITS Geophysical Engineering will be better known globally.
