Curriculum

The Doctoral Program (S3) in Engineering Physics at ITS is delivered over a study period of 6 to 8 semesters, with a study load of 42 credits.

A. Admission for Students from a Cognate Field
The core curriculum of the ITS Engineering Physics doctoral program offered to students coming from a cognate field of study, in which the curriculum load that must be completed within the program amounts to 42 (forty-two) credits.
B. Admission for Students from a Non-Cognate Field
Applicants coming from a non-cognate master’s program are required to first take a number of matriculation courses (determined by the dissertation committee of the Engineering Physics doctoral program) in order to bring the candidate’s level of understanding and mastery of Engineering Physics in line with the theme of their dissertation.
Matriculation load: a maximum of 12 credits
Course determination: by the dissertation committee
Minimum passing grade: at least B for each course
After completing the matriculation stage above, doctoral students from this pathway will have gained a sufficiently good understanding of Engineering Physics, at a level equivalent to that of applicants coming from a cognate master’s program. Students from this pathway may then continue their program and complete the full core curriculum load of the Engineering Physics doctoral program.
