Excellent Student Activities of
Department of Marine Transportation Engineering

Department of Marine Transportation Engineering has several excellent student activities which generally aim to support learning activities in the classroom and as a vehicle for expanding knowledge in the field of marine transportation.

Seatrans Super Sailing (SSS) is a routine activity of the Marine Transportation Engineering Department students who aim to:

  1. Increasing solidarity between Marine Transportation Engineering students, especially participants in this activity.
  2. Develop maritime insight into Marine Transportation Engineering students to be able to recognize marine transportation technology, especially in the fields of ports, shipping, and maritime logistics.
  3. Introducing the main parts of the ship, such as construction, main engine, and ship navigation tools.

This activity conducted for third semester students of Marine Transportation Engineering Department, with activities as follows:

  1. Sailing and review of parts of the ship, including a review of the engine room, decks of vehicles, platforms, accommodation and interactive discussions with the captain and crew on board.
  2. Surveys and observations of sea transportation services, including the characteristics of sea transport users, sea transportation infrastructure and existing fleet of ships.
  3. Company visits to ports and shipyard industries, including an explanation of facilities and equipment and operational activities at the Port or shipyard industry.

Seatrans Study Excursion is a routine agenda of students of the Marine Transportation Engineering Department, which held since 2015. The main activity in Seatrans Study Excursion is a visit of international companies that are closely related to the marine transportation sector.

The purpose of this activity is to introduce the business process of the marine transportation sector to students, to gain knowledge about technological developments in the world of marine transportation so that students of the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering can have global insight.

During the company visit, students will get many opportunities to discuss with experts in the field of marine transportation and see first hand the operational conditions at the port and shipyard. In addition, students also get the opportunity to visit interesting places.

The Department of Marine Transportation Engineering organizes Field Study activities, which aim to increase the knowledge of students of the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering and as a form of implementation of knowledge obtained during the learning process in the classroom. Besides that, it is possible to provide a direct overview of the operational processes of the marine transportation sector.

Department of Marine Transportation Engineering organizes guest lecture activities, both by alumni, practitioners, experts (experts) and government representatives to broaden students knowledge about developing strategic issues related to the marine transportation sector.

The Leadership and Martial Arts Training Activity is an activity attended by all new students of the Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK), including the new students of the Marine Transportation Engineering Department. This activity was held in collaboration with the Faculty of Ocean Technology with the TNI AL 5 Batuporon Madura. The purpose of this activity is to build the character of new students who love the country and at the same time introduce the maritime world and its environment.
