Department of Marine Transportation Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), successfully organized a Guest Lecture featuring Prof. Dr. Marianne Schmolke, Vice Rector for Education at Hochschule Wismar, Germany.
Carrying the theme “Education in Engineering and Design in Germany – Our Most Important Resource: Theoretical and Practical Insights,” the event delivered comprehensive insights into the German engineering and design education system, which emphasizes a balanced integration between strong theoretical foundations and practical implementation within industry.
During the interactive session, Prof. Schmolke explained how research-based curriculum integration, close industry collaboration, and international exposure serve as key foundations in shaping graduates who are adaptive and globally competitive. The discussion also highlighted the importance of cross-border inter-university collaboration in addressing the evolving challenges of technological development and the global maritime industry.
