Strengthening Strategic Synergy, Department of Mathematics ITS and PT Pegadaian Hold FGD to Discuss MoU on Research and Education

SURABAYA – The Department of Mathematics at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to expand its strategic partnership network with the industry sector. On Tuesday (29/09/2026), the Department of Mathematics ITS held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with PT Pegadaian to explore potential collaborations in research and education.

This strategic meeting served as an initial step toward formulating key agreements that will be formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both institutions. The discussion focused on two main pillars: innovative research and human resource development.

In the research domain, collaboration will focus on joint initiatives involving internal laboratories at the Department of Mathematics ITS, specifically the Industrial and Financial Mathematics Laboratory (MIKE) and the Machine Learning and Big Data (PMBD). This synergy aims to deliver mathematical modeling, data analytics, and quantitative finance solutions to address business challenges at PT Pegadaian.

In terms of education, both institutions agreed on several initiatives to enhance student competence. The planned programs include guest lectures by PT Pegadaian practitioners, industrial internships, practical work programs (KP), and specialized training modules.

Through this FGD, the Department of Mathematics ITS and PT Pegadaian are committed to establishing a mutually beneficial collaboration that delivers real impacts on academic research while preparing students to excel in the national financial industry.
