SURABAYA – The Department of Mathematics at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has once again demonstrated its commitment to strengthening international academic networks and elevating global research quality. On Friday (25/09/2026), the Department of Mathematics ITS successfully hosted an international Guest Lecture featuring a renowned mathematics expert from Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria, Prof. Dr. Erika Hausenblas.
Carrying the compelling topic “Stochastic Partial Differential Equations and the Applications,” this guest lecture was attended by faculty members, researchers, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students. The event aimed to deepen the academic community’s understanding of applying Stochastic Partial Differential Equations (SPDE) to model various complex real-world phenomena involving uncertainty.
In her presentation, Prof. Dr. Erika Hausenblas highlighted that SPDE theory is not only a profound subject of pure mathematics, but also plays a crucial role in real-world applications. Stochastic modeling is widely implemented across modern scientific disciplines, ranging from fluid dynamics and materials science to financial modeling and cutting-edge technology.
The Head of the Department of Mathematics ITS stated that hosting an international scholar like Prof. Hausenblas provides invaluable academic stimulation for researchers and students at ITS. In addition to expanding theoretical and practical perspectives, this forum opens doors for future cross-border research collaborations.
Through this guest lecture, the Department of Mathematics ITS continues to solidify its position as an adaptive, globally oriented higher education institution dedicated to producing graduates who can apply advanced mathematics to meet modern challenges.
