Deepening Solutions for Uncertainty, Department of Mathematics ITS Holds Soft Sets Guest Lecture with Prof. Fatia Fatimah

SURABAYA – In an effort to expand academic horizons and strengthen research quality in applied mathematics, the Department of Mathematics at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) successfully hosted a guest lecture on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Held at the Department of Mathematics ITS, the academic event was attended by faculty members, researchers, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Carrying the compelling topic “Soft Sets-Based Decision Making: Theory, Methods, and Implementation”, the lecture featured a leading expert in applied mathematics from Universitas Terbuka, Prof. Dr. Fatia Fatimah, as the keynote speaker.

During her presentation, Prof. Fatia Fatimah provided deep insights into how Soft Sets theory serves as a highly effective modern mathematical approach for handling uncertainty and incomplete information in real-world problems. Beyond explaining its theoretical frameworks and methodological developments, she highlighted various practical applications of Soft Sets in complex decision-making processes across multidisciplinary fields.

The interactive Q&A session between the speaker, faculty members, and students generated engaging discussions throughout the event.
