The development of industry in Indonesia has been very rapid. As of 2019, there were approximately 24,500 registered industries under the Ministry of Industry and more than 100 industrial estates, where each region covers hundreds to as much as 2,267 hectares. With an Indonesian population exceeding 250 million covering an area reaching 1.905 million km2, it is certainly strategic for meeting their needs by utilizing abundant natural resources.

FTIRS has 5 departments and 2 bachelor programs namely: Department of Mechanical Engineering and Process Safety Program (new program), Department of Chemical Engineering and Food Technology (new program), Physics, System and Industry Engineering, Materials Science and Metallurgy.
