The Department of Geomatics Engineering at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is pleased to welcome international Adjunct Professor Prof. Timo Balz as part of a series of academic activities and international collaboration programs scheduled for early May 2026. The visit features various scientific and educational activities aimed at undergraduate, master’s, doctoral students, and lecturers within the department.
The visit will begin on May 1, 2026, with the arrival of Prof. Timo Balz at Juanda International Airport, where he will be welcomed by representatives of the Department of Geomatics Engineering ITS.
During his visit, Prof. Timo Balz will deliver several block courses and guest lectures focusing on remote sensing and spatial data programming. On May 4, 2026, he will present lectures on Microwave Remote Sensing for undergraduate students and Active System Remote Sensing for master’s students. The sessions will take place in Room GM-205 and are intended for UG and MS students.
The following day, on May 5, 2026, a Scientific Writing Workshop will be conducted for master’s and PhD students, and will also be open to lecturers interested in improving their international scientific writing skills.
On May 6, 2026, Prof. Timo Balz will continue the block course sessions on Microwave Remote Sensing and Active System Remote Sensing, including optional assignments for participants. Furthermore, on May 7, 2026, he will deliver a Guest Lecture entitled Spatial Data Programming for master’s and PhD students.
The academic series will conclude on May 8, 2026, with a block course on Remote Sensing for undergraduate students, also accompanied by optional assignments. These activities are expected to broaden participants’ knowledge of recent developments in remote sensing technologies and spatial data applications for research and industry.
This Adjunct Professor visit reflects the commitment of the Department of Geomatics Engineering ITS to strengthening its international academic environment, enhancing educational quality, and fostering global research collaboration opportunities for the ITS academic community.
