The 5th Edition of the PhD CUP is a prestigious training and competition initiative designed to enhance PhD candidates’ academic speaking and public presentation skills.
Inspired by the 3-Minute Thesis pitch model, the PhD CUP aims to strengthen research communication skills through:
Expert-led online training on rhetoric and research communication
Video submission competition (two rounds)
Live Final during the SGroup Annual Meetings
International networking opportunities
Participants will receive:
Free expert coaching through mandatory online training sessions
Opportunity to present at the SGroup Annual Meetings
International exposure and networking opportunities
PhD Mobility Grant of up to €1,000 for research abroad for the winner
The top 5 finalists will be invited to attend the SGroup Annual Meeting at Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland (15 October 2026). The final winner will be selected during the SGroup General Assembly.
10 March 2026 (10:00 AM) – Internal selection deadline at ITS
11 March 2026 – Interview at ITS and registration submission to SGroup
25 March 2026 – Selection process
30 March 2026 – Announcement of results
4 & 6 May 2026 – Mandatory online training sessions
Video Submission Round – Top 10 participants selected
Final Round – Top 5 finalists invited to the SGroup Annual Meeting
Since this program requires nomination from ITS, applicants must submit their data through the ITS Abroad Form: https://its.id/studyabroadITS

Selected finalists are responsible for preparing their own budget for:
Round-trip flight tickets
Accommodation
Visa
Living expenses during the event in Poland
