Autumn Semester 2026 | Academic Year 2026–2027

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Lithuania, offers an International Exchange Program for students from partner universities, supported by the Lithuanian State Scholarship for Short-Term Studies for the 2026–2027 academic year.

This opportunity allows nominated students to undertake one (1) semester of study (maximum 6 months) in Lithuania and is intended to strengthen international academic cooperation between institutions.

Program Overview

Kaunas University of Technology is one of the leading universities in Lithuania, with more than 300 Erasmus+ and bilateral partnership agreements worldwide. Exchange students may study at the undergraduate or postgraduate level and earn up to 33 ECTS credits per semester.

Academic calendar:

• Autumn semester: September – January
• Spring semester: February – June

Lithuanian State Scholarship (Short-Term Studies)

• Type of scholarship: Short-term studies (1 semester, maximum 6 months)
• Total number of scholarships: up to 35
• Country quota: maximum 5 grantees per country

Scholarships are available for students who are citizens of, among others, Indonesia, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Canada, China (PRC and Taiwan), India, Israel, Japan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States of America, Vietnam, and foreign citizens of Lithuanian origin from non-EU and non-EFTA countries.

Estimated Monthly Living Costs in Lithuania

Accommodation:

• KTU dormitory: EUR 90 – 250
• Private rent: EUR 250 – 450
• Utilities (private rent): EUR 50 – 100

Daily expenses:

• Groceries: approximately EUR 200
• Restaurant meals: EUR 8 – 15 per meal
• Public transportation: approximately EUR 6
• Hygiene products: approximately EUR 30
• Entertainment and leisure: approximately EUR 80

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be officially nominated by ITS
• Apply for one semester only (Autumn 2026)
• Open for Batch 2023 & 2024 Undergraduate
• Meet English language proficiency requirement at CEFR B2 level or equivalent
• Fulfil academic and administrative requirements set by KTU and the Lithuanian State Scholarship

• Passport scan (minimum 1 year validity prior to July 2026)

• Enrollment Letter in English

• The Conditional Agreement for Studies (this template form must be used. It must be completely filled in and signed by three parties: a candidate, responsible persons at the sending and receiving institutions). The programme of short-term studies specified in the study agreement must consist of at least 30 credits per semester (not applicable for candidates of the third study cycle). Recommendations for filling out the Conditional Agreement.
• English proficiency certificate (CEFR B2+, IELTS ≥ 5.5, TOEFL iBT ≥ 70, TEFL ≥ 500; or equivalent)
• Copy of a valid passport (one year validity)

  • The goals of chosen studies are clear and realistic.
  • There is a clear connection between the planned studies and the candidate’s motivation.
  • The candidate’s studies are connected to their plans in Lithuania.
  • The candidate clearly articulates the added value for their future career.
  • The candidate clearly articulates the added value for personal improvement.

Selection Criteria

Eligible and complete applications will be assessed based on:

• Motivation (50 per cent)
• Academic performance (50 per cent)

Priority is given to applicants of Lithuanian origin, who receive an additional point in the evaluation process.
