DGIST 2026 Research Internship Now Open!

Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST), South Korea, invites international undergraduate students to apply for the 2026 Summer DGIST Graduate School Research Internship Program. This 6-week research internship offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on research experience, work closely with DGIST professors, and experience academic and cultural life in Korea.

The program is designed to strengthen students’ research skills, interdisciplinary understanding, and global academic exposure through direct involvement in laboratory-based research activities.


Program Overview

The DGIST Research Internship for Undergraduates provides students from DGIST and partner universities worldwide the opportunity to explore interdisciplinary research topics and participate in practical research activities within DGIST’s graduate school environment.

Internship Period

June 29, 2026 – August 7, 2026 (6 weeks)

Research Details

  • Internship in one laboratory within one of the 7 departments of DGIST Graduate School
  • Supervision by a DGIST professor

Accommodation

DGIST student dormitory provided (shared room for 2 participants)

Financial Support

Total support: Approximately KRW 1,560,000 per participant, including:

  • Scholarship: KRW 552,000
  • Dormitory fee (including utilities): KRW 378,000
  • Daily allowance: KRW 630,000

Notes:

  • Dormitory fee for the entire program period will be fully covered by DGIST
  • Daily allowance will be transferred to participants’ Korean bank accounts in the 2nd and 4th week after arrival.
  • All participants are required to open a Korean bank account upon arrival.

Visa Requirement

Participants must obtain a C-3-1 (Short-term Visit) visa prior to arrival in Korea.

Notes: Participants are responsible for international/domestic transportation, visa fees, insurance, and personal expenses.


Eligibility

  • Undergraduate students (3rd or 4th year) who have completed at least four semesters
  • Not currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program
  • Cumulative GPA of 75% or higher (equivalent to 3.0/4.0 or above)
  • Must be enrolled at the home university and expected to continue for at least one additional semester
  • Foreign nationality (non-Korean)
  • High level of English proficiency

Notes:

  • All required documents must be submitted in English
  • Applicants must enter the email address of their academic advisor
  • Recommendation letters must be uploaded using the designated DGIST form by the deadline

Selection & Results

  • Applications will be reviewed by the International Affairs Team and relevant academic departments
  • Results will be announced in April 2026 via the application website
  • Successful applicants will receive an email notification
