The RISE @ IITK program offers outstanding foreign students an opportunity to participate in research under the supervision of IITK faculty members.
This internship aims to enhance participants’ research exposure and academic development in various fields of science and engineering. Students who successfully complete the Winter Internship 2025 will receive priority consideration for the Summer Internship 2026 (6–8 weeks, on-site at IIT Kanpur).

AI/ML applications in materials science
Energy and climate change studies

Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Have at least one semester remaining after the internship
Possess a strong academic record and an interest in research
Meet project-specific requirements (as listed in the project guide)
Proficient in English
Applicants are required to submit the following documents in PDF format:
Statement of Purpose (maximum 400 words) outlining research interests and motivation
Updated CV
Official Transcript (minimum GPA: 3.00/4.00)
Certificate of Enrollment
Scanned Passport (valid at least until July 2026)
English Proficiency Score
TOEFL/IELTS/iBT/ TEFL (with score equal to CEFR B2)
Letter of Recommendation from a faculty member or supervisor
