Online Exchange : ASEAN in Today’s World 2021

Greetings, ITS students!

We are happy to announce that the Online Exchange : ASEAN in Today’s World (AsTW) 2021 has opened its registration!

It is a two-week international study program focusing on ASEAN and East Asian affairs with the strong support from the ASEAN Secretariat. It is designed for university undergraduate students from around the world.

This online exchange program, co-organized by Kyushu University and Mahidol University will have some online courses, such as:

1. Asian Languages & Culture (ALC)

  • Basic Thai Language & Culture
  • Basic Malaysian Language & Culture
  • Basic Japanese Language & Culture

2. ASEAN Studies (AS)

  • Social Innovator Incubation
  • Multi-culturalism in Asia

There will be virtual cultural performances, national cooking classes, and more.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should be a registered undergraduate (preferably) or a graduate student meeting the following criteria :

  • Over 18 years old
  • Possesses good academic standing (has the equivalent of a CGPA score of at least 3.0 out of 4.0)
  • Fluent in the English language for academic purposes (either TOEFL IBT-68/ CBT-190/ PBT-530 or IELTS (Academic)- Band 5.5 or the equivalent)
  • Will continue study at the home party after finishing AsTW

SCHOLARSHIP

  • Kyushu University offers a limited number of scholarships to students from ASEAN countries who presents strong academic record. All applicants are considered but priority will be given to students with ASEAN nastionalities and currently studying at an ASEAN country.
  • There are no scholarship application forms to be filled out by an applicant. The scholarship will be on a competitive basis with an emphaasis on applicants that can contribute the most to multi-cultural dynamics in and outside of the classroom. Officials from both Kyushu University and Mahidol University will make the decision on scholarship recipients.

NOTE :

  • To receive the scholarship, a bank account for overseas remittance is required.
  • Once an applicant has been selected as a scholarship recipient :
  1. A scholarship recipient needs to remit a partial program fee of 59.200 JPY to Kyushu University by 10 February 2021
  2. Once the remittance has been confirmed, it will get returned to a recipient by overseas remittance.
  •  The remaining program fee will be covered by the scholarship (no need to remit upfront)
  • Detailed instructions will be provided upon the announcement of results in late January 2021

NOTE 

AsTW 2021 Online Program will be cancelled when the minimum number of applicants or successful applicants is less than 30
