In order to increase the security of Microsoft 365 accounts against cyber attacks, the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology implemented multi-factor authentication (MFA) activation for all ITS education staff, lecturers and students.
MFA or multi-factor authentication is an account login process that requires users to enter additional information besides the password. Such as using a fingerprint or entering a code sent to a telephone number.
Why is multi-factor authentication necessary?
Multi-factor authentication acts as an additional layer of security to prevent unauthorized users from accessing the account.
What are the benefits of multi-factor authentication? 1. Improve security protection. 2. Avoid hacking into applications and access resources that require logging in with user ID, email and password. 3. Protects user data from credential theft.
