DESIGN OF ADAPTIVE COOKWARE SETS AS A FACILITIES TO SUPPORT COOKING INDEPENDENCE FOR THE BLIND

Background

In Indonesia there are around 22.97 million people with disabilities. As many as 22.97 million people are also Indonesian citizens whose rights must be fought for equality in all aspects of life. Many people with sensory disabilities are given training in skills and some of them still have to always adapt to the tools or products used, one of which is a visual disability. One of the daily activities is cooking, where the various stages that must be carried out require vision. Stages such as preparing food ingredients and processing them take longer and are repetitive detailed activities, so cooking process support tools (cookware) are created to help carry out these activities. Therefore, equipment is urgently needed, especially cooking equipment, to facilitate cooking activities in order to realize the independence of the blind. For this reason, we need a design where the number of products for people with disabilities are more common. Fry up to serve food. The cookware is in the form of a set consisting of an adaptive frying pan and a frying pan separator and is designed to help them carry out activities normally done by those who are blind to meet their food needs and become independent. The target users needed are people with visual disabilities so that they can facilitate the cooking process so that it can be done more time efficiently and especially increase the confidence of people with visual disabilities
