Green Building is a building design concept oriented toward environmental sustainability and human comfort. Although it has been adopted in various regulations in Indonesia, its implementation remains limited, particularly in private buildings, as it is often perceived to require high investment costs. Therefore, efforts to disseminate information and raise awareness are needed to broaden the understanding and application of this concept.
Through a Community Service Program, the Department of Architecture at ITS conducted the dissemination and evaluation of Green Building principles at Utsman bin Affan Integrated Islamic Junior High School, Surabaya. The activities included environmental condition recording, evaluation based on applicable standards, and discussion of the results through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The resulting recommendations are expected to serve as a basis for improving the quality of the school building toward sustainable infrastructure, in line with the roadmap of the Center for Sustainable Infrastructure and Environmental Research at ITS. The outcomes of this activity are published in a community service journal. Community Service Program under the Thematic Abmas Scheme,Funded by the Department of Architecture, FTSPK ITS, 2025
