Surabaya, April 17, 2026 — Students of the Climate and Disaster Resilience course once again conducted a field visit to the Disaster Education Park of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Java Province. This activity was carried out as part of strengthening students’ understanding of disaster education, preparedness, and mitigation efforts through direct field experience.
During the visit, students gained interactive learning experiences through various educational facilities, including disaster education socialization in the Disaster Education Mobile Unit (MOSIPENA), exploration of the Disaster Education Tent (TENPINA), observation of the Pusdalops (Operations Control Center) Command Center, and the earthquake simulator.
These various learning media provided students with a more practical understanding of different types of disasters, early warning systems, preparedness measures, and evacuation procedures.
This visit is expected to further strengthen the connection between classroom learning and real-world disaster education practices, while also fostering students’ awareness of the importance of building a disaster preparedness culture.
