Surabaya – On Thursday, January 22, 2026, 40 participants of the Community and Technological Camp (CommTECH) 2026 visited the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Library. The library was the first stop on the agenda for the Visit to the ITS Research & Innovation Gallery, following the opening ceremony held at the ITS Rectorate Building.
Upon arrival at the location, CommTECH 2026 participants from various countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, China, Japan, the Philippines, and others, as well as several people from the Directorate of Global Partnerships (DKG), were welcomed by two ITS Library staff members.
During the library tour, participants were divided into two groups. The first group started their tour from the 1st floor to the 5th floor, while the second group explored the library from the 5th floor to the 1st floor. Each group was accompanied by three library staff members who provided explanations about the facilities, services, and collections available at the ITS Library. The participants seemed enthusiastic about this activity, with some participants from Malaysia even attending wearing their country’s traditional clothing
The enthusiasm of the participants was increasingly evident when they visited the multimedia room, especially in the mini theater area. Participants from Thailand seemed very excited when they saw posters of films from their country displayed in front of the mini theater room. On this occasion, the film Jumbo, an Indonesian animation that went viral some time ago, was screened to provide a mini theater viewing experience at the ITS Library. Meanwhile, during the reference room introduction session, one of the participants from Vietnam was interested in the Cafe Hotspot located on the same floor, and took the time to ask further questions to the DKG assistant.

One of the participants of CommTECH 2026, Najmi from Universiti Putra Malaysia, expressed his interest in the facilities available at the ITS Library. “The ITS Library is interesting to me, especially the mini theater and Migas Corner upstairs.” So I think it’s interesting for us to visit this library,” he said.
Shauki from Universiti Tenaga Nasional expressed a similar sentiment. He admitted that he was impressed by the spaciousness and completeness of the facilities available.“For me I think ITS library is quite big. It’s quite a surprise there’s a lot of corners, cafes, that can accommodate student’s need. And I think it’s one of the best place for students to study.” he said.
The atmosphere of the visit became even more lively when library staff introduced a collection of ITS students’ final project books, each over 1,000 pages thick. This moment attracted the attention of participants, who then captured it in photos and videos.
The visit to the ITS Library ended in a relaxed atmosphere, where CommTECH 2026 participants enjoyed coffee at the ITS Library’s Kopi Pahing Cafe while waiting for the rain to subside. Overall, the visit went smoothly and left a positive impression on the international participants.
