Unpacking Industrial Financial Strategies, Department of Mathematics ITS Hosts Guest Lecture with MPM Group Leadership

SURABAYA – The Department of Mathematics at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) once again provided an insightful industry literacy forum for its students. Located at Theater Room A, Department of Mathematics ITS, a guest lecture titled “Investment Portfolio Optimization and Risk Management in Industry Practice” was successfully held on Tuesday (13/10/2026).

The event featured two strategic leaders from PT Mitra Pinasthika Mustika Tbk (MPM Group): Kemal Mawira, Director of MPM Group, and Roy Sastika, GM HRBP at MPM Group. This guest lecture offered deep insights into how quantitative finance theory and risk modeling are applied directly in corporate-scale decision-making.

In his presentation, Kemal Mawira unpacked various analytical techniques and approaches for optimizing investment portfolios and risk mitigation strategies amidst market uncertainty. Meanwhile, Roy Sastika shared valuable human resources perspectives regarding the key analytical competencies of mathematics graduates that are highly sought after for strategic roles in the finance and investment sectors.

Participant enthusiasm filled Theater Room A throughout the presentation and interactive Q&A sessions. Through this guest lecture, the Department of Mathematics ITS aims to enhance students’ understanding of the practical relevance of financial mathematics in real-world industries and prepare them to become globally competitive professionals.
