Enhancing Academic Quality and Governance, Department of Mathematics ITS Conducts Benchmarking Visit to Universitas Gadjah Mada

YOGYAKARTA – The Department of Mathematics at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues its drive to elevate institutional governance, curriculum standards, and the quality of education and research. As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, the management team and academic staff of the Department of Mathematics ITS conducted a benchmarking study visit to Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on December 4–5, 2025.

The study visit focused on exchanging ideas, evaluating best practices, and discussing innovations in academic program management, research development, and strategies to strengthen institutional reputation at both national and international levels. Over the two-day visit, representatives from the Department of Mathematics ITS engaged in interactive discussions with leaders and faculty members from UGM regarding core pillars of higher education governance.

Key discussion topics included curriculum updates tailored to modern industry demands, research laboratory enhancement, academic mobility initiatives, and strategies for high-impact international scientific publications. Furthermore, both institutions explored potential avenues for future academic collaborations and joint research projects.

Through this benchmarking initiative, the Department of Mathematics ITS aims to integrate key strategic insights to reinforce its academic foundation, enhance graduate competitiveness, and solidify its standing as a leading mathematics department in Indonesia.
