ASEA-UNINET

ASEAN European Academic University Network

Brief overview

The ASEAN European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET) is a university network that connects European and Southeast Asian higher education institutions to support the continuous internationalization of education and research. Founded in 1994 by universities from Austria, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, ASEA-UNINET now consists of more than 95 universities from 13 countries. The network promotes cooperation based on equality, scientific collaboration, intercultural exchange, and long-term academic partnerships between Europe and the ASEAN region.

ASEA-UNINET focuses on research, teaching, staff and student exchange, innovation, arts, and projects related to global challenges, especially those connected to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each year, the network supports more than 80 bilateral and multilateral research projects, as well as scholarships for PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, workshops, conferences, summer and winter schools, and networking events. Its academic fields are broad, covering natural sciences, technology, economics, social sciences, humanities, medicine, and pharmacy.
