The aim of this program is to facilitate an opportunity to better understand ITS’s expertise in technology implementation within the society while visiting, discovering, and experiencing Indonesia’s diverse heritage and culture. It will also open up an opportunity to exchange ideas and develop a mutual goal for the future of our community.

The theme of the program is “Solving Local Problems with Global Knowledge”.  Our organizing committee has been working hard to make the program a truly memorable experience for all participants.

CommTECH Camp Insight offers 4 fascinating courses in 2 different time

Sub Course A: Internet of Things (IoT) for Society (25 Jan – 5 Feb 2024)
coordinator: Astria Nur Irfansyah, Ph.D  (https://scholar.google.co.id/citations?user=wt_52FQAAAAJ&hl=id )

Internet of things, or IoT, has the potential to unlock possibilities that were unthinkable in the past. Combined with technologies such as telecommunications, big data, and machine learning, IoT is set to have significant impact in many areas, such as health, transportation, smart city, agriculture, and many more. In this program, we will cover the three main parts of an IoT system, namely the sensor or node device, the communications network and protocol, and the web service. Participants will work in groups and be guided to have hands-on experience, with the minimum requirements of a mobile phone and computer to build prototypes and proof of concepts

Sub Course B:  Human Factors in Interaction Design (25 Feb – 5 Feb 2024)

Coordinator: Ratna Sari Dewi, Ph.D (https://www.its.ac.id/mt/ratna-sari-dewi/)

In the fast-paced world of interaction design, the ability to create interfaces that resonate with users is paramount. The course “Human Factors in Interaction Design” delves deep into the critical role that human psychology, cognition, and behavior play in shaping effective interactions. This course provides a comprehensive exploration of the principles, theories, and practical applications necessary to design user-centered interfaces that are both intuitive and engaging. The course will cover understanding human-centered design, human perception and cognition, the principles of interaction design, effective interface design, cognitive process evaluation, human reliability, usability, and UI/UX and user research methods. The students will work on case studies in groups and exercise to use several techniques in user research, such as surveys, in-depth interviews, and eye-tracking methods.

Sub Course C: Smart Materials (26 Feb – 8 Mar 2024)

Coordinator: Dr.-Ing. Doty Dewi Risanti, ST, MT ( https://www.its.ac.id/tfisika/id/dosen-dan-mahasiswa/daftar-dosen/dd-risanti/ ) & Dr.Eng. Nur Laila Hamidah, S.T., M.Sc (https://www.its.ac.id/tfisika/id/dosen-dan-mahasiswa/daftar-dosen/nl-hamidah/ )

The improvement of people’s health and quality of life will depend more on the development of new materials and technologies. The same is true for intelligent materials. Smart materials have served as the foundation for numerous new technological advancements due to their distinct characteristics of stimuli-responsiveness and autonomous behaviour. The newest research in smart materials has overturned conventional design principles and substantially broadened their application sectors, starting with classic examples like piezoelectric materials and shape-memory materials. These classic examples have shown their ability for being used as energy harvesting from human daily life activities or from the rainfall. Phase change materials may even help human to stay in comfort room by absorbing heat by day and release it by night. Other smart materials can serve as sensor, such as thermochromic materials that can change reversibly their color by a temperature change. The objective of this course is on the synthesis the smart materials and characterizing their properties to understand their how they can be applied.

Sub Course D: Archipelagic State and It’s Maritime Strategy (26 Feb – 8 Mar 2024)

Coordinator: Dr, Ing. Setyo Nugroho ( https://www.its.ac.id/seatrans/lecturer-and-staff/lecturer/setyo-nugroho/ )  & Dika Virginia Devintasari, S.Si, M.Sc ( https://www.its.ac.id/seatrans/lecturer-and-staff/lecturer/dika-virginia-devintasari/ )

Indonesia is known as the largest maritime and archipelagic country in the world which 70% of its territory consisting of sea. It makes some islands in Indonesia are separated by the sea. However, it does not become the barrier for connecting one island to the other islands since the mode of sea transportation has the important roles and very closely related for connecting these islands. Yet, Indonesia’s maritime transportation are under threat due to optimization on the maritime logistics, Shipping industry, and port sustainability. The right economy strategy can address these challenges.

The highlight of the study is to gain the knowledge on how the maritime industries work in Indonesia. Start from Shipping Industry, Port Authorities and Technology utilized on Maritime industry. Therefore, In CommTECH Camp Insight 2022, our subject will take you to discuss and simulate the basic knowledge of maritime transportation such as logistics system, port and shipping.

This programme is designed to suit bachelors, masters and doctoral students with or without specific knowledge on Maritime Transportation of Engineering. All the participants are going to visit some shipping company and port authority company to gain the insight on Maritime
Transportation. In the end of the programme, the students are expected to knowing more the maritime industry in Indonesia as well as the similarity and the difference of maritime strategy in their own country and make improvement on Indonesia’s maritime transportation.
