GES Journeys: Students and Alumni Experiences

Sawsan Fathi Anabtawi (Palestine)
Doctoral Degree at Chemical

“I had the valuable opportunity to work closely with highly knowledgeable faculty members and access well-equipped research laboratories. This experience allowed me to further develop my research on mesoporous materials while gaining hands-on experience with essential analytical instruments in my field.

From the very beginning, I felt genuinely welcomed and supported. The academic staff, administrative team, and local students were consistently helpful and approachable. Their guidance made my transition into the university system and life in Indonesia as an international student much smoother.

Academically, this program significantly strengthened my skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing. On a personal level, it enhanced my confidence, adaptability, and ability to collaborate within a multicultural environment. It also fostered greater independence in conducting research.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned is the importance of collaboration. Working with researchers from diverse backgrounds exposed me to new perspectives and methodologies that will continue to enrich my academic and professional journey.

I would highly recommend this program to prospective students. ITS offers strong academic mentorship, high-quality research facilities, and a warm, supportive environment for international students. Overall, the experience is both academically rewarding and culturally enriching.”

Nuruddeen Shehu (Nigeria)
Doctoral Degree at Statistics

“Joining my research group and working under my promoter made me realize how diverse the academic environment at ITS truly is. It reassured me that I had come to the right place to grow and develop as a scholar.

From the moment I arrived at the airport and was welcomed by student volunteers, I felt supported. The staff and my colleagues in the department made me feel genuinely welcome. As an international student far from home, the strong administrative guidance and academic mentorship helped me adjust quickly and comfortably to my new environment.

This experience has strengthened my confidence and broadened my academic perspective. Being immersed in a new cultural and academic setting pushed me to become more independent and adaptable. It also elevated my mindset as an emerging researcher.

One of the most important lessons I learned is the value of stepping outside my comfort zone. Having the courage to explore new cultures, embrace new ideas, and challenge myself academically is something I will carry with me throughout my career and personal life.

I would definitely recommend ITS to others. It offers a rich learning environment, supportive faculty members, and an atmosphere that encourages both academic excellence and personal growth.”
