Explore Research and Internship Opportunities at ITS

ITS provides a world-class research environment where students can tackle critical issues shaping our world today and in the future. With a strong reputation for collaborating with businesses, industries, and communities, ITS focuses on delivering practical and innovative solutions. Comprehensive facilities are available to support research and internship activities, creating an ideal setting for academic and professional growth.

As part of this program, students can stay at ITS for periods ranging from one to six months without paying tuition fees.

Lab Internship Opportunities

ITS also welcomes students interested in pursuing lab internships for durations of one to six months, tuition-free. However, students are responsible for covering all their living expenses during their stay.

For more information, refer to the list of laboratories accepting students for internships and their respective contact details. Students interested in a lab internship must first reach out to the ITS International Office.

Internship Program at ITS

Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) proudly offers exciting opportunities for international students to participate in its internship programs. These programs are designed to provide practical experience, allowing students to apply their knowledge, attitudes, and skills in real-world settings, including laboratories, industries, and communities.

The duration of the internship program is generally from 1 up to 6 months.

A Memorable Internship Experience at ITS

My experience at ITS has been truly unforgettable. From the very beginning, I felt warmly welcomed by both the staff and the local community. The Global Engagement team was exceptionally well-organized—offering airport pickup, orientation, and a well-designed buddy system that made settling in smooth and stress-free. The activities organized throughout the program also helped me build strong friendships with both Indonesian and international students.

Academically, the internship was a valuable opportunity. As an aspiring PhD student, I was quickly immersed in the lab environment and given meaningful assignments that challenged me while allowing me to grow under the guidance of a supportive supervisor. This experience strengthened my passion for applied statistics and confirmed my future academic goals.

Beyond academics, ITS offers the perfect balance between study and cultural exploration. From discovering Surabaya’s rich history to visiting Mount Bromo, every moment was enriching.

I would absolutely recommend this program to other students — and yes, even the Mie Ayam at the ITS Library is worth the experience! 😊

An Enriching International Research Experience at ITS

During my time at ITS, I had the opportunity to work on a real research project in Product-Service Systems within the laboratory environment. With strong academic supervision and clear practical applications, the experience allowed me to bridge theory and real-world engineering challenges.

Both the academic staff and fellow students were incredibly welcoming, supportive, and always available whenever needed. Their openness created a positive and collaborative atmosphere.

This internship significantly strengthened my research skills, independence, and ability to work in an international and interdisciplinary setting. Most importantly, I learned how to apply theoretical engineering concepts to real industrial and research problems.

I would highly recommend ITS to other students. It offers an excellent academic environment, strong institutional support, and valuable international research exposure.
