Dear ITS Students,

We are pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Sandwich Program (Student Exchange) at Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), Japan for the Fall 2025 semester.

Program Period

Fall Semester: September 2025 – January 2026
Students are expected to stay in Japan throughout the semester to fully participate in academic coursework and program activities. Please ensure that your travel plans align with these dates.

Program Overview

Tuition Fee: Waived
Student Expenses: You are responsible for the registration fee (¥30,000, applicable only for Fall), learning materials, accommodation, living costs, roundtrip airfare, and travel insurance.

Eligibility

Open to:

• Undergraduate (S1) students from batch 2022 and 2023

• Master’s (S2) students from batch 2023 and 2024

Participants must comply with Japanese immigration and travel regulations.

Fields of Study

Available in most disciplines under Engineering, Science, and Technology.
Refer to the course catalog via SIT’s official page. Students may take courses from both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, subject to prerequisites.

Look under “SIT Mobility Program Participants”
Check all the available courses by clicking “All courses” or choose by the department. You can take courses from any department. Possible to take the courses from both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level if you meet the prerequisites of each course.

Please kindly note that ITS Students must take and transfer the maximum credit transfer opportunity for S1 and 6 sks for S2 per semester. You need to refer in each semester (1st semester refer to fall, 2nd semester refer to spring)

Academic and Administrative Notes

• S1 students must transfer the maximum allowable credits per semester.

• S2 students must transfer a minimum of 6 SKS.

• Semester reference:

  • 1st semester = Fall

  • 2nd semester = Spring

Insurance and Visa

Insurance:
Valid travel insurance is required. For stays over 90 days, students must enroll in Japan’s national health insurance. SIT also provides insurance coverage for academic activities (Gakkensai & Gakkenbai).

Visa:
SIT will assist with the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and invitation letter.
Note: Airport pick-up is not provided.

Accommodation:
Students must arrange housing independently. SIT will share guidance and options.

• Latest Academic Transcript in English (min. GPA 3.00/4.00)

  • S2 applicants must also include S1 transcript

• Passport scan (valid for at least one year from Sept 2022)

• English Proficiency (CEFR B2 or higher):

  • IELTS (5.5–6.5) / TOEFL iBT (72–94) / TOEFL ITP (min. 500)

  • Screenshots or prediction test results are not accepted

• 1 Recommendation Letter (from academic advisor or lecturer)

• Statement Letter (template provided)

• Learning Agreement (signed by applicant and department head/secretary)

• Pledge Form (signed by applicant)

• Parent’s Statement Letter (in Bahasa Indonesia) confirming full financial and emotional support – no format required

• GCW Non-Degree Certificate (min. C) or GCW Result (min. 80)

  • S2 students may submit R2SEP Certificate instead

Incomplete or late submissions will not be processed.
