(Australia Indonesia Centre)

Brief overview

The Australia–Indonesia Centre (AIC) is a bilateral collaborative initiative established in 2014 by both governments, universities, and industry partners to strengthen ties between Australia and Indonesia. It brings together leading universities from both countries to advance cooperation in areas such as science, technology, education, innovation, and culture. Through interdisciplinary research and engagement activities, AIC connects researchers, policymakers, and communities to address shared challenges while promoting long-term people-to-people relationships and mutual understanding between the two nations.

ITS activities highlights

  1. Dr. Hera Widyastuti, Head of Transport Laboratory, participated in research within Infrastructure Cluster.
  2. In 2014, ITS participated in a food and agriculture planning team.
  3. ITS has an AIC senior fellow (Prof. Nyoman Pujawan) and two associate fellows (Dr. Ira Mutiara Anjasmara and Dr. Tony Dwi Susanto)

Scope

The Australia–Indonesia Centre (AIC) includes interdisciplinary research and engagement in areas such as trade, energy, digital economy, health, and culture. It also covers flagship research initiatives like the Partnership for Australia–Indonesia Research (PAIR), alongside activities such as policy-focused analysis, education and skills development, and digital economy studies. Additionally, AIC supports outreach and people-to-people programs, including media platforms, short film competitions and festivals, and initiatives that strengthen collaboration in education, training, and industry between both countries.
