SUT-Ph.D. Scholarship for ASEAN (Phase II- years 2015-2017) for the year 2017

Dear ITS Students,

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) is delighted to announce its SUT-Ph.D. Scholarship for ASEAN (Phase II- years 2015-2017) for the year 2017. This scholarship was first established in 2011 to mark the creation of the ASEAN Economic Community as well as His Majesty the King’s 84th birthday. It aims to attract outstanding students from the ASEAN member countries to pursue Ph.D. studies at Suranaree University of Technology, one of the leading National Research Universities of Thailand. The scholarship grants a total amount of 960,000 Baht (approx. 30,000 USD ) over a period of three years and of 1,200,000 Baht (approx. 37,500 USD) over a period of five years to a candidate holding a master’s or a bachelor’s degree, respectively. Nine scholarships will be awarded to Ph.D. students each year, commencing with the 2017 academic year (which starts July 2017).

Eligible applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. be national of an ASEAN country (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos,
    aa    Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam),
  2. be of age 35 or below by the date of the application deadline,
  3. hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field,
  4. Ph.D. scholarship for Bachelor degree holder
    aahold a Bachelor’s degree with GPAX > 3.25 (on 4.00 scale),
    aaPh.D. scholarship for Master degree holder
    aahold a Master’s degree with GPAX > 3.50 (on 4.00 scale) with at least one
    aaresearch publication in an international standard journal, written in English,
    aaApplicants whose grades are based on a different system, not on a 4.00 scale,
    aaare requested to convert their GPAX to 4.00 scale, and provide explanations.
  5. possess proficiency in English
    aafor English Language Studies program: TOEFL > 550 or IELTS > 6.0,
    aafor all other Ph.D. programs: TOEFL > 500 or IELTS > 5.0,
    aaor scores obtained through other equivalent standardized tests.  The results of
    aathe English tests must not be older than 2 years by the date of the application deadline.
  6. not have been granted a scholarship under this program before.
  7. be of good health.
