About the Program

The UM–AUN Summer Camp 2026 is an international academic and cultural program hosted by Universiti Malaya for students from ASEAN University Network (AUN) member universities.

With the theme Blue Horizons: Advancing Sustainable Oceans, the program focuses on marine sustainability, coastal and ocean conservation, and regional environmental challenges. Participants will engage in lectures, fieldwork, laboratory sessions, and cultural activities while experiencing Malaysia’s marine environment and multicultural society.


Program Objectives

The program aims to:

  • Enhance students’ knowledge of marine science and ocean sustainability
  • Provide international and cross-cultural learning experiences
  • Encourage intellectual exchange and global networking
  • Promote awareness of marine biodiversity conservation
  • Expose participants to Malaysia’s culture, people, and coastal ecosystems

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, participants are expected to:

  • Demonstrate critical, innovative, and problem-solving skills related to marine issues
  • Gain hands-on experience in marine sustainability through field visits and laboratory practicals
  • Participate effectively in cross-cultural collaboration
  • Understand key marine sustainability challenges and solutions
  • Communicate scientific and sustainability issues through presentations and other media

Program Highlights

  • Academic modules on Biodiversity, Biotechnology, Climate Change, and Sustainable Development
  • Field activities at Tanjung Tuan (Cape Rachado) and Blue Lagoon Beach
  • Coral reef and seaweed surveys
  • Laboratory practical sessions
  • Visits to botanical gardens and marine-related facilities
  • Cultural tours and excursions
  • Group reflection and final presentations

Fees and Coverage

Program Fee: Waived (for 2 students)

Covered by the program:

  • Airport transfers at designated time slots
  • Ground transportation
  • Accommodation
    • Check-in: 1 September 2026, 4:00 PM
    • Check-out: 12 September 2026, 12:00 PM
  • Meals (breakfast and lunch on selected days)

Not covered:

  • Round-trip airfare
  • Travel and health insurance
  • Personal expenses
  • Visa fees (if applicable)

 


Eligibility for ITS Students

  • Open to Diploma, Bachelor (S1), and Master (S2) students from batches 2023 to 2025

Required Documents

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  2. Scanned passport (valid for at least one year from July 1, 2025)

  3. Student ID card or Certificate of Enrollment

  4. Statement Letter (download: bit.ly/its-short-program)

  5. Learning Agreement (only for those applying for credit transfer)

  6. Parental Support Letter – Must state parental consent and financial support

All documents must be combined in one .zip or .rar file in PDF format.
